Avaya Phones - Set Your Mailbox Greeting

Users can modify, remove or customise their mailbox greeting. This is the message callers are played when you do not answer your phone.

All Avaya phones have a default message, it is very generic.

​This is a guide on how to add your own personalised mailbox greeting. Instructions will work on the majority of phones, but as we have 8 different phone models, we can't promise it is the same for all. Email IT if you have difficulties and we will assist.

It is also possible there is an access code on the phone. There are two defaults you can enter - 0000 or 1111  If the default codes do not work, let IT know and we can reset.

On your phone, press the messages button.

Press the down arrow to scroll through the menu until you see Greeting at the top of the display.

Press the More button once, Submit and Delete will be displayed.

Press Delete. This will remove any message that is currently stored.

If you prefer to use the default Avaya message, click Submit, pick up and replace the handset, no more to do.

Or else, record your own message. Press the More button again.

You will now see the Record option.

*Please Note - Pick up the handset to record your message.*

Press the Record button, speak clearly, then press the Stop​ button (the middle button of the 3). Your message must be longer than 3 seconds.

*Do not replace your handset yet*

Press the More button.

Press the submit button.

Replace the handset.

You can go back to the Greeting menu and check your recorded message, press the Listen button.
